Report on digital farming by FoEE: From data giants to farmer power

future farming

Plans for reforming food and farming policies, in particular the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), feature digitalisation as a universal solution for more environmentally and pollinator-friendly farming. This new report warns however that digital farming, instead of benefiting the climate and environment, could further tighten the stranglehold of corporations on our food.

The report shows that corporation-led digital farming fails to make our food system more resilient and therefore will not guarantee more sustainable farming. It calls on decision makers to ensure data sovereignty for farmers before paving the way for digital farming through the CAP, and to also use the CAP to foster the transition to agroecological farming practices.
